The original idea for the Sticky Putt® Golf Putting Target was conceived during an intense evening of putting practice.
Earlier that day, I had experienced a punishing round on the golf course; my performance on the putting greens was mostly to blame.
Later that evening, back at my apartment; frustrated by this outing, I grabbed my putter and tossed a few golf balls out on the floor. Needing a target, I positioned a Gipsy Kings CD at the edge of my living room carpet and began.
Some time during this session, the idea for the Sticky Putt® Golf Putting Target slipped into my consciousness; immediately thinking of my “Seeds” binder, I jotted it down.
Flashback: It’s well over a decade ago that I got into the habit of jotting down random ideas. As the ideas began to accumulate, I designated a binder to store these flashes of inspiration and oftentimes silliness; I entitled that binder “Seeds”.
Later that same year, slightly bored and looking for a project, I flipped through the binder, dug out the drawing, and went to work. I put together several laughable prototypes; ultimately succeeding at making one that was fun-ctional.
Emboldened by this success, I continued… all-the-while whispering to myself in my best Field-of-Dreams inner voice… “Leave the gun, take the cannoli”, wait, wrong movie… “If you build it, t(he)y will come”, which eventually morphed into my project mantra… “Make it work, then make it better”, but you know… with the Shoeless Joe voice.
Sticky Putt® was born… corporation formation, non-disclosure agreements, patent & trademark applications, coffee, coffee, more coffee… then my mantra voice, “Make it work, then make it better.”.
Material testing, graphic & web design programs, packaging, now I have to pee from all that coffee… mantra voice, “Take a leak, then make it better.”.
Manufacturing & suppliers, barcoding, marketing strategies, now I have to (don’t go there)… mantra voice, “Make it work, then make it better.”.
532 pots of coffee, multitudinous steps later; I present to you the patented Sticky Putt® Golf Putting Target… with multiple edge designs to choose from!
